Half of Australian firms have under-developed marketing capabilities

Some 47 per cent of business development and marketing capabilities in Australian and New Zealand law firms are 'under-developed', according to a survey by the Australasian Legal Practice Management Association (ALPMA).

In association with Julian Midwinter & Associates (JMA), ALPMA found that many law firms are under-performing in this area. Publishing the 2015 ALPMA/JMA: Winning Work in A Digital World report, ALPMA president Andrew Barnes said: 'It is clear that few Australasian law firms are firing on all cylinders from a business development perspective.'

Training

Some 56 per cent of the 153 firms which took part in the research say that they do not train their lawyers in marketing and business development. Source: Lawyers Weekly
