Herbert Smith to reopen in Riyadh through association with local firm

Herbert Smith Freehills will again have a presence in Riyadh when, next year, it sets up an exclusive association with Nasser Al-Hamdan.

Name partner Nasser Al-Hamdan will become a partner in Herbert Smith and will be the managing partner of the firm in Riyadh. A former White & Case energy and infrastructure partner, Euan Pinkerton, will also be based in the Saudi capital.

Investment in EMEA

The move means that Herbert Smith is to once again have a presence in the region, two years after it executed a pull-out. Joint chief executive Sonia Leydecker said: 'Together with our recent launches in Johannesburg and Düsseldorf, this will be our third major investment in strengthening the firm’s presence across the EMEA region, a key focus for the firm to provide clients with a truly global offering.'
