Morgan Lewis has hired a leading bank regulatory lawyer as partner in the Washington DC office. Charles Horn joins from Morrison & Foerster LLP and counsels domestic and global banks and financial services firms on a wide array of regulation and transactional matters, in addition to advising banks on asset management, fiduciary and asset administration. Mr Horn is a banking and financial services veteran having spent 24 years at major law firms representing financial institutions.
Singapore
Partners Lian Yok Tan and Nicholas Hanna have been poached for the Singapore office of K&L Gates from White & Case and Watson, Farley & Williams (WFW) respectively. They will join the firm’s energy and corporate/M&A practices respectively. Ms Tan advises government bodies, banks and corporations in Asia on project development and financing in the energy and infrastructure sectors, and counsels on areas including mergers and acquisitions, commercial trade, structured and asset financings and private equity. Mr Hanna advises on main market and AIM listings, capital raising, private equity transactions and contractual commercial disputes across the Asia Pacific region with clients covering sectors including oil and gas, mining and energy.
Hong Kong
International law firm Bryan Cave LLP snags two partners from Blank Rome for its Hong Kong office. Nigel Binnersley and Kristi Swartz will practice with the firm’s Commercial Litigation Client Service Group and the Transactions Client Service Group respectively. Mr Binnersley acts in litigation and commercial matters, particularly concerning international trade and carriage disputes. He advises clients on business complexities in such areas as High Court and arbitration and mediation in Hong Kong, London, China and throughout Asia. Ms Swartz specialises in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, public companies and capital formation, and has experience with SFC and HKEx Listing and compliance issues. She advises clients on issues including corporate finance, Securities & Futures Commission of Hong Kong enquiries and Hong Kong Stock Exchange enquiries.

Macfarlanes has hired a leading construction lawyer from Ashurst who has over 20 years’ experience representing property companies including British Land, Chelsfield, Hines and Stanhope and the Tate. Ann Minogue is to be a partner in the non-contentious Construction Group which is part of Macfarlanes’ Commerical Real Estate practice. In July of this year the firm also hired partner Clare Breeze for the practice.

Australian commercial law firm HWL Ebsworth has nabbed partner David Guthrie from Norton Rose Fulbright, taking its national total to 32 partners, Lawyers Weekly reports. Mr Guthrie acts for personal injury damages, property damage and economic loss claims and has extensive experience acting for self-insurers in damages proceedings, defending recovery actions brought by statutory insurers and defending claims under liability policies. Mr Guthrie also operates an administrative law practice defending merits review applications in the Victorian and Commonwealth administrative appeals tribunals.
