Senior law firm partners seem a bit more upbeat than their GC counterparts in relation to the next 12 months. Perhaps it’s just wishful thinking – or a reflection of the fact that so many large commercial law firms have been through cost-cutting and ‘rationalisation’ exercises that they think all the heavy lifting has been accomplished. Whatever the rationale, more than 55 per cent of law firm respondents to our survey are either optimistic or very optimistic about the immediate future. What’s the betting on the nearly 18 per cent who are doom-mongers being right in the end?
