K&L Gates loses 80 partners in seven months

The 2,000-lawyer international law firm has been losing some of its stars, including those tipped to lead the practice in future, according to observers.

Stagnant profit levels are given as one reason that partners have left; another is that the trend for partners to leave is itself motivating others to go. Departing partners have gone to Morgan Lewis & Bockius, McDermott Will & Emery and Holland & Knight. Offices in Dallas and San Francisco in particular have seen a number of departures.
