The dispute revolves around the assets of an insurance company, United Southern Assurance - and whether $4.7m was due to the insurer by Countrywide Insurance. Lawyer William Gast acts for the estate of a deceased owner of Countrywide and says that the case should have been closed and that no more payments are due.

Self-dismissal

District Judge Peter Bataillon has now fined Mr Gast for filing motions which the judge has decided are frivolous. These include one motion that the judge should dismiss himself. Source: Insurance Journal
