Jennifer Ridha was assigned to Mr Douglas's case in October 2009, soon after he had been arrested for possession of methamphetamine in New York, in sufficient quantities to charge him with intention to distribute. She was working for Lankler, Siffert and Wohl. Falling in love with him, she soon began bringing Xanax into jail for him. She was arrested in early 2010 and fired from her job.
Legal anthropology
Her autobiography, Criminal that I am, is due to be published on 12 May. Mr Douglas is now serving his jail sentences and becomes due for parole in 2018. Ms Ridha is a graduate student on legal anthropology, urban studies and criminal justice.
Lankler, Siffert and Wohl
The law firm has been operating in New York city since it was set up there 30 years ago. It says on its website that it specialises in 'high-stakes disputes involving the commercial, regulatory, and white-collar criminal arenas'.
