Linklaters’ global partnership has voted to extend the terms for its senior partner Aedamar Comiskey and firmwide managing partner Paul Lewis until 2029.

The firm said their terms had been extended with “overwhelming support” following a “year of record results, including the biggest year-on-year increase in profit in more than 20 years and significant revenue growth in the US”.

The duo took up their respective roles in July 2021, Comiskey in the process becoming the first woman senior partner in the firm’s then 183-year history. A Linklaters lifer, she joined in 1994 and served as its global head of corporate before stepping into the SP role.

“This is an exciting time for our firm,” Comiskey said. “We have bold ambitions and everything we need to achieve them – the market’s top talent, the world’s leading clients and a brilliant culture of teamwork and high performance. Together we are driving transformational growth in the US and achieving exceptional results globally. I’m delighted to be extending my term as senior partner and to have the opportunity to build on the terrific momentum we have as a firm.”

The firm has been busily adding to its US practice over the past few years, including marquee hires across finance and M&A from legacy Shearman & Sterling and a litigation team from boutique Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler. To support its US strategy, the firm appointed former Shearman co-managing partner George Casey as its first chairman of the Americas earlier this month.

Linklaters pointed to US revenue growth as a contributor to its record results in the 2024 financial year, when the firm pushed global revenue past the £2bn mark for the first time and grew profit per equity partner by 8% to £1.9m following a slight dip in 2023.

Lewis, who joined the firm as a trainee in 1997 and was global head of finance and projects before becoming MP, commented: “Four years ago we set out a clear vision and strategy to put us in the strongest position to win the most complex, cross-border mandates for the world’s leading corporates, banks, funds and financial sponsors.

“With the hard work and commitment of our colleagues, we have made significant progress. This is reflected in our performance in industry league tables, rankings and awards, and another year of record financial results. I look forward to building on these strong foundations to continue to deliver the best for our clients as one global team.”

Comiskey will continue as senior partner until 30 September 2029, with Paul Lewis’s term to run until 31 December 2029.
