The UK-based bank is outsourcing its asset finance litigation work and the legal work related to its retail and wealth team. It has invited at least three firms to tender, including Eversheds, Irwin Mitchell and DWF. The initiative is being led by Stuart Morgan, general counsel for retail, and Jennifer Neilson, general counsel for commercial banking. The bank is releasing few details at this stage although a spokesperson told The Lawyer: 'In line with our strategic review in 2011, we continue to look for ways to simplify the bank for the benefit of our customers.'
Flexible working
Meanwhile, the top two members of the bank's legal team - group general counsel Andrew Whittaker and deputy Kate Cheetham - are to enter into a job-sharing arrangement. With their heavily female workforces, banks have long been pioneers of flexible working. But such arrangements are not common at the top levels.
