Senior names from global luxury, fashion and beauty brands including Luxottica, L'Oréal, and DeBeers will be among the headline speakers at the latest edition of the Luxury Law Summit in London.

The one-day summit is being held at The British Museum on Tuesday June 13, with the key theme being the next generation of authentic luxury and how the industry can future proof itself in areas such as ESG, increased regulation and a growing litigious environment.

Topics on the agenda include a panel discussion on the responsibility of luxury and the global issues the industry faces, as well as talks on the challenges of finding new talent in luxury; legal insights and commercial predictions for the jewellery and watch segment; and legal considerations for the beauty market. The summit is being chaired by Jamie Gill, a strategic luxury advisor and founder of The Outsider’s Perspective – an initiative to create a talent pipeline for the luxury industry from underrepresented groups.

Other speakers on the roster include Joanne Loughrey, associate general counsel, L’Oreal UK and Ireland, Diana Verde Nieto, co-founder of Positive Luxury; Tiffani McDonough, senior counsel for employment and litigation at Louis Vuitton Americas; John Mulligan, director of market relations and climate change lead at the World Gold Council; Purvi Shah, head of ethical and sustainable value chains at DeBeers; and Dani Khang, senior legal counsel at Selfridges.

A range of workshop sessions are also scheduled throughout the day. Baker McKenzie is hosting a session on ‘Luxury brands in an economic downturn’, exploring the impact of changing consumer habits and corporate strategies for continued growth. Bird & Bird is also hosting a session on ‘Going green? How to build a successful green advertising campaign’ and the importance of getting green claims right amid increased legal scrutiny.

The summit will conclude with a book launch, the Luxury Law Awards and a drinks reception. Sponsors of the event include Asprey, Baker McKenzie, Bird & Bird, Cervieri Monsuarez, Davis Wright Tremaine, Deloitte Legal, DLA Piper, Graff Search, HGF, Hogan Lovells, K&L Gates, Killik & Co, Linklaters, Loeb & Loeb, McCarthy Tétrault, Mischon de Reya, Oracle Solicitors, Perkins Coie, Portolano Cavallo, Taylor Wessing and Trevisan & Cuonzo.
