Mr Hallab was previously chair of Baker & McKenzie’s corporate and securities practice in Washington, D.C., and head of the firm’s Middle East practice for North Africa. Mr Thraya, a fluent Arabic speaker, led Baker & McKenzie’s UAE corporate and commercial practice and was also a founding partner of the firm’s Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Doha offices.
Dubai office
Mayer Brown has announced plans to open an office in Dubai in 2016, subject to regulatory approval, where Mr Thraya is expected to serve as partner in charge. In the meantime, he will be based in D.C., and also Chicago.
