Mayer Brown is to retain just 55 per cent of its newly-qualified cohort this autumn - one of the lowest rates announced by London offices this year.

There were 11 trainees who qualified this year and all but one were offered a permanent job. Seven accepted but only six of them are on permanent contracts. This translates into a 55 per cent rate for permanent contracts. Last autumn the retention rate was also 55 per cent. By contrast, Slaughter and May is keeping 81 per cent of its NQs.
