The pair have confirmed that they will be moving back into full-time practice with the Chicago-based firm from 1 January 2017 after serving as co-chairs since 2009. Speaking to BigLaw Business, Mr Stone said that the decision to step down ‘was 100 per cent initiated’ by Mr Sacripanti and himself: ‘I think many people in the partnership wish we could remain with the status quo for longer. It was the right time personally and for the firm,’ he commented. McDermott has not yet identified a successor or successors for Mr Stone and Mr Sacripanti—an election process will get under way over the next few months, which will result in the firm’s management committee selecting the new leaders.
