Merger creates Israel's third-largest firm

Two leading Israeli law firms merged to create the third-largest law firm in the country, boasting more than 200 lawyers, 58 of them partners, it was announced earlier this week.

Tel Aviv: merger creates leading firm

Meitar Liquornik Geva & Leshem Brandwein and Kantor Elhanani Tal & Co agreed to the deal amid the liberalisation of the country’s legal market, which is making it an attractive target for many international law firms, reports the Am Law Daily web site.

Opening market

Of those taking advantage of the opening market are Los Angeles law firm Wasserman Comden Casselman & Esensten, which launched a Tel Aviv office in October. New York firm Ziechner Ellman & Krause has also established a base in Ramat Gan – a hotspot for technology companies.
The first major US firm to have boots on the ground in the country was Miami-based Greenberg Traurig, which opened its Tel Aviv office in December 2011.
The country’s biggest firm is Goldfarb Seligman & Co, while the second-largest is Herzog Fox & Neeman.
