Portuguese law firm Miranda Correia Amendoeira & Associados has  approved a new governance model and elected new executive members in what it describes as a 'radical' shake up of management. The changes see Miranda adopt a dual management structure consisting of a board of directors and supervisory board. The new board of directors comprises seven members presided over by Rui Amendoeira, previously the firm’s managing partner. The structure sees each of the members of the board take on executive functions enabling a spread of responsibilities across a network of associated offices comprising more than 200 lawyers with offices in four continents.

Collegiality

The board of directors comprises Rui Amendoeira (President), Rita Correia, Catarina Távora, João Afonso Fialho, Paulo Trindade Costa, Alberto Galhardo Simões and João Luís Traça. In addition, the firm has set up a three-member supervisory board comprising Luís Oliveira, Paulo Pimenta and chaired by Agostinho Pereira de Miranda, who was president of the board since the firm’s founding in 1987. Commenting, he said:  'The new governance structure reflects the strong culture of collegiality of the firm and will allow us to better position and prepare ourselves for further growth in the years ahead.'
