Music giant was run by its lawyers, according to leaked tape
Executives at Universal Music Group have been recorded saying that 'the business has been controlled by lawyers for a long time' in a call released by entrepreneur Kim Dotcom, with whom the Group had been in litigation.
Universal Music Group was trying to forge an ad sales deal directly with Megaupload Everything
The recording is of a phone conversation between Mr Dotcom, founder of the now defunct file server Megaupload, and executives at Universal Music Group in 2012. They were discussing a potential deal with his company. Based in Santa Monica, California, Universal is the largest music group in the world and is a subsidiary of Paris-based media group Vivendi.
