Nissan has instructed law firm Lewis Silkin in its action against the Vote Leave campaign, lodging legal proceedings with London’s High Court on Monday. At the centre of the lawsuit is an official Vote Leave leaflet which claims that Nissan and other companies would keep jobs in the United Kingdom if the country votes to leave the EU in Thursday’s referendum. Nissan’s logo was reportedly features on the leaflet alongside those of other major multinationals, including Unilever and Airbus. ‘Permission to use our name and logo was not requested. If it was, it would not have been granted,’ said a statement from Nissan. According to the company, the Vote Leave campaign continued to use and circulate Nissan’s logo in its materials even after the company made several request to have the logo removed. The action from Nissan will seek an injunction against the Vote Leave campaign and an end to ‘further false statements and representations concerning Nissan.’
