Paul Hastings has a record year

Paul Hastings has reported that 2015 was its most profitable year ever, with profits per partner crossing the $2.5m barrier.

Gross revenue at the Los Angeles-based firm increased 5.6 per cent to $1.06bn. Consecutive years of strong growth means that revenue at the firm has risen 20 per cent between 2011 and 2015.

Profits per partner increased 6 per cent to hit $2.51m, while revenue per lawyer rose 1.1 per cent to $1.16m at the 912 lawyer firm.

London hires

The firm has been making a decisive push in London over the last year, hiring Berwin Leighton Paisner's head of structured debt and capital markets Paul Severs and restructuring heavyweight David Ereira from Linklaters. The firm also brought in Duncan Woollard from King & Wood Mallesons to lead its private funds practice in the City and Ashurst banking partner Luke McDougall to develop its leveraged finance team.
