Cristina Duch joins Pérez-Llorca in Barcelona as IP partner

IP practitioner Cristina Duch has joined Spanish law firm Pérez-Llorca as a partner in its IP and technology practice in Barcelona.

With more than 25 years of experience, she advises multinational and domestic companies on the full spectrum of IP work, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, designs, unfair competition, advertising and trade secrets and know-how.

Prior to joining Pérez-Llorca, she spent nearly 20 years at Baker McKenzie. Her expertise covers sectors such as fashion, luxury, cosmetics and fragrances, personal care, food and drink, technology and pharmaceuticals.

In addition, she has litigation experience before national and EU courts and before national and European IP institutions.

The firm said that Duch will work alongside IP and franchising partner in the firm’s Mexico City office, Pablo Hooper, offering a “global, multidisciplinary service to all clients with interests in Europe and Latin America on the protection of their intangible assets, as well as on the negotiation and litigation related to intellectual property rights in both markets”.

With Duch’s appointment, the firm continued, the “litigation practice area will also expand to include complex matters relating to trademarks and industrial designs, patents, trade secrets and new technologies in general”.

It added that her experience will complement that of the head of the intellectual property and technology practice in Europe, Madrid-based Eduardo Castillo.

Before joining Baker McKenzie, Duch was at Mullerat Abogados, which was dissolved in 2006; she started off her career at Spanish IP boutique firm Pellisé Abogados.

Pérez-Llorca has been rapidly growing its international network in recent years, including entering the Mexican market last year through a landmark merger with 100-lawyer firm González Calvil
