Some 238,000 Portuguese people live in Switzerland, according to Swiss statistics. And Swiss-based multinationals such as Nestle have spread to many parts of the Portuguese-speaking world that is home to PLMJ’s main client base. The new office, and its Swiss desk in the Portugal practice, is being set up by partner Nuno Cunha Barnabe. He has been admitted to practice law in the Swiss canton of Vaud. The Swiss office will create a link between Swizerland and Brazil, Luanda, Maputo and Macao. According to Numo Cunha Barnabe, the move is 'a result of the experience gained from the significant work we have been doing with Switzerland for almost a decade.' He said the firm wanted to provide them with local support whilst also having a more 'effective interface with Portugal and the Portuguese-speakign countries where PLMJ International legal Network has a presence, in line with the firm's internationalisation strategy.'
