Chris Douglas, founder of Malkara Consulting, is currently in Nigeria to train the Nigerian Police Force on anti-money laundering. He said: 'A lawyer undertaking a property transaction … might not see or be party to all of the transactions and events surrounding the activity. They might only have a small but important role in any property deal.'
High education costs
Lawyers need to know who they are dealing with and have to ask clients numerous questions about themselves, said Mr Douglas. They should be particularly alert when people deal in large amounts of cash and should notice odd incidents like clients claiming to spend vast sums on the education of children abroad.
