Arbitration duo Ivan Marisin and Vasily Kuznetsov are both leaving Quinn Emanuel’s ten-strong Moscow office to take up positions at US rival Baker Botts, leaving the former firm’s Russian practice with just one full-time partner. Mr Marisin, formerly head of Quinn Emanuel’s Russian office, will play a key role in managing Baker Botts’ disputes practice in Russia, while Mr Kuznetsov is set to co-chair the firm’s international disputes practice. Both lawyers have served earlier stints with both Clifford Chance and Dechert, with Mr Marisin having previously worked as head of Clifford Chance’s Moscow disputes practice before leading Dechert’s dispute team in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.
Value and commitment
‘They have a deep-seated understanding of the Russian legal system,’ said Baker Botts’ Moscow partner-in-charge Maxim Levinson of the new recruits. ‘They will both add significant value for our Russian and international clients and their arrival also speaks to the commitment that we have made to continue to grow our international network.’
