Reed Smith launches Paris competition practice

Pittsburgh-headquartered global law firm Reed Smith has announced the opening of a competition practice in Paris with the appointment of Michel Debroux to its partnership.

Mr Debroux joins from the Paris office of Anglo-US law firm Hogan Lovells where he was co-head of the antitrust, competition and economic regulation group.

Banking and finance

The new arrival follows that of partner Alexandre Tron, who joined in December 2012 with senior associate Olivier Borenstejn to expand the firm’s banking and finance offering in Paris.
James Wilkinson, head of Reed Smith’s Europe & Middle East corporate group yesterday commented: ‘Our clients are increasingly seeking antitrust and competition advice in respect of their cross-border activities and Michel’s expertise brings new capability to our corporate team in Paris. We already have a strong competition practice in London, led by Edward Miller and Marjorie Holmes.’

International platform

Mr Debroux added: ‘The combination of Reed Smith’s dynamic approach, given its steady growth in Paris over recent years, and  the quality of its international platform left me in no doubt. I made up my mind to accept the challenge that I was presented with; to create and develop Reed Smith’s competition practice in Paris.’
