In Singapore, Simmons & Simmons has picked up former Dentons banking and finance partner Matthew Cox. A seasoned commodity trade finance lawyer, Mr Cox was managing partner of Dentons' Singapore office prior to its closure last year after the firm's combination with Chinese law firm giant Dacheng.
Meanwhile, Herbert Smith Freehills' Singapore office is losing energy partner Jon Ornolfsson to rival firm Ashurst. Mr Ornolfsson trained and worked with Ashurst's teams in London and Milan between 2003 and 2007 before making the switch to HSF. Ashurst arbitration partner Ronnie King is also relocating from London to Singapore.
In Shanghai, Jincheng Tongda & Neal has scooped up intellectual property partner Frank Lui from rival PRC form Chang Tsi & Partners. Meanwhile, Howse Williams Bowers has boosted its corporate practice in Hong Kong with the hire of Goodwin Procter capital markets and private equity partner Christopher Yu.
In Tokyo, Hogan Lovells has lost intellectual property partner Phillipe Riesen to Foley Lardner, but picked up M&A partner Lisa Yano from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
