The combined duo will operate under the name Schiff Hardin LLP and Mazur Carp’s lawyers will move to Schiff Hardin’s New York office, the second largest out of Schiff Hardin’s seven US offices. Mazur, which was set up by Sayward Mazur, specialies in construction law, trusts and estates and elder and disability law.The merger has been called 'a perfect fit' by Ronald S. Safer, Schiff Hardin's managing partner, in a statement. Mazur Carp & Rubin's 'distinguished practices, combined with Schiff Hardin's nationally recognized construction group and private clients, trusts and estates group, brings to clients - both in New York and nationwide - extraordinary depth in two of our strongest practice areas', said Mr Safer.
Construction team
The 11 lawyers joining Schiff Hardin consist of eight partners, two associates and one counsel. Four of the lawyers practise specifically in construction law, giving Schiff Hardin 17 specialist construction lawyers, reports Bloomberg.
The move is six months on from when Schiff Hardin acquired 10-lawyer Washington firm Bruder Gentile & Marcoux LLP.
