Writing for Bloomberg Business of Law, Mr Poor says that: 'We are seeing structural, rather than cyclical, change in corporate legal buy'.
Mergers up in the air
He suggests that individual law firms will need to rethink their place in the market. He says: 'Amidst all these pressures, firms will need to challenge and test the validity of conventional wisdom governing the business of law. Merger activity is one such example.' However, Mr Poor also considers mergers to have their own challenges, not least that 'the changing face of the corporate buy will mean that tie-ups will face an increasingly high bar for value creation.'
