Slater and Gordon plans job cuts

Listed Australian firm Slater and Gordon is consulting with 51 fee-earners and support staff with a view to possible redundancies.

Talks started yesterday with 37 staff in Failsworth, Manchester and 14 staff in Derby about the possible closure of both sites. A spokesperson for the firm said that, where possible, it would help affected individuals ‘find other opportunities within the Slater and Gordon Group.’

Huge share price fall

Slater and Gordon arrived in the UK in 2012 and grew rapidly through several mergers that made it one of the biggest providers of consumer legal services. But imminent personal injury reform, revised profit estimates and an investigation by regulators in Australia have seen share value drop by more than 80 per cent in the last year.
