According to the Spanish business newspaper Expansión, Ramón y Cajal is losing two of its six founding partners to Baker & McKenzie, effective from 31 July. .Alberto Alonso Ureba and Francisco José Bauzá are the co-directors of the finance and commercial practice and capital markets practice of the Spanish firm.

A further three partners and 15 lawyers are said to be considering joining the international firm with Expansión claiming partners Guillermo Guerra, Rafael Bazán and Fernando Marroquín are on the move. Negotiations have yet to be finalised but the final number could see around 25 lawyers join the firm’s Madrid and Barcelona offices.Both firms have declined to comment.
