The new Hong Kong base will expand on existing offices in Beijing and Shanghai and be Taylor Wessing’s 33rd office worldwide. The alliance with HM Chan & Co – which specialises in corporate, M&A, capital markets and regulatory matters – will build on Taylor Wessing’s international practice strengths in technology, media and communication, life sciences, private wealth and energy. German partner Jakob Riemenschneider will be relocating to Hong Kong to head up the new office. Taylor Wessing managing partner Tim Eyles commented: ‘Given our considerable experience in supporting international businesses developing in the Asia region, having operated in China for 20 years and Singapore for five, we are well placed to support our clients to capitalise on these opportunities and Hong Kong is the natural next step for our growth.’ The new link-up comes less than a month after Taylor Wessing unveiled its partnership with PBC Partners in Vietnam.
