Taylor Wessing scoops up KWM COO

Only days after the resignation of William Boss, European practice head of King & Wood Mallesons (KWM), Taylor Wessing has announced it has hired KWM chief operating officer for Europe and Middle East Rachel Reid.

Ms Reid officially stepped down at the end of October, with KWM Australia COO Tim Finlayson succeeding her on an interim basis.  She was a core member of the team that led the merger negotiations between SJ Berwin and King & Wood Mallesons in 2013, and will join Taylor Wessing in early February after five years at the firm.

Elections and a review

It emerged last Friday that KWM will hold managing partner elections for Europe to find a successor to Mr Boss, who will officially step down from his role at the end of April. The firm has also launched a review of its capital structure, in a bid to ease cash flow, halt repeated delays to profit distribution and stem what is becoming a flow of exits by ‘frustrated’ partners. The review could see UK partners asked to make larger contributions to the firm in return for more units in the LLP. Sources: Legal Business; The Lawyer
