Two in-house lawyers are included in the list of top Irish legal professionals in Britain. Sinead Martin, group legal director at publishing company Random House and Sinead Mac Lua, a senior lawyer with the Bank of Ireland Group, have made the grade in The Legal 50, Britain’s top Irish law professionals in 2013. Ms Martin has worked with some of the world’s best known celebrities and politicians in her role at Random House. The legal department will have dealt with books by ex British prime minister Tony Blair and other members of the Labour party such as Alistair Campbell and Jonathan Powell. Celebrity clients include Fifty Shades of Grey author E L James and the former glamour model Jordan, or Katie Price as she now prefers to be known, who has written a number of books on her life story.

Also included in the Legal 50 are Arthur Cox’s head of London, Kathleen Garrett, McCann Fitzgerald’s Hugh Beattie, A&L Goodbody partner Peter Walker, Micheal Grace, London partner at Mason Hayes Curran, Matheson man in London, Stanley Watson and William Fry’s Stephen Keogh. Other Irish lawyers making the cut include Lord Brian Kerr, a Justice of the Supreme Court, James Barnes who heads the real estate practice at Herbert Smith Freehills and high profile employment lawyer Clare Murray, managing partner at CM Murray & Co. Top divorce lawyer James Stewart of Penningtons Manches is also acknowledged in the list as is Giles Kavanagh who heads the aerospace team at Homan Fenwick Willan. US firms represented included Nigel Wilson of Davis Polk and Ronan O Sullivan of Paul Hastings
The Legal 50 was published by The Irish Post newspaper in its business magazine ‘In Business 2013’ which also showcased the top 100 Irish business people in Britain.
