Legal firm Perkins Coie was retained by Uber Technologies after former engineer Susan Fowler posted a blog in February about sex harassment at the company which alleged that on her first day at work her boss propositioned her in a series of messages. Since then Perkins Coie has checked into 215 complaints with 57 still under investigation.

Series of investigations and claims

But, this is not the only investigation being conducted at Uber as it is also being probed by former Attorney Genera Eric Holder who is expected to release a report next week with recommendations on how to change the company’s culture. Uber is also the target of a federal investigation into claims that it has used a fake version of its app to thwart authorities and it is also facing corporate espionage claims by Waymo, formerly Google's autonomous vehicle arm which claims Uber's former chief autonomous car researcher took confidential documents from Waymo before his startup firm was purchased by Uber.

New hire to boost brand image

In efforts to address the negative backlash and reports Uber has this week hired the Global Consumer Marketing head of Apple Music and iTunes, Bozoma Saint John, to join as its chief brand officer to improve its brand image. Uber employs more than 14000 people, is the number one ride-hailing company in the US and is valued at nearly $70 billion. It is also gearing up for an IPO. It is currently looking for a new general counsel.
