Data just released from the CBI also shows optimism about prospects from the business and professional services sector at a 15-year high. Profitability has recorded its strongest growth in over five years - and leaders expect to increase the size of their payrolls. The results are more than just a part of an overall surge in UK performance. Consumer services organisations, by contrast, expect declines in profitability and headcount.
The detailed data on business and professional services in the CBI survey shows optimism up 36 per cent, business volumes up 20 per cent and profitability up 9 per cent. Planned IT spending for the year ahead is up 21 per cent on the last quarter.
