UK police accused of using mole to spy on work of defendant lawyers

The Metropolitan police in London is being accused of paying a mole who gave them witness statements and other information which was covered by legal privilege and which, in one case, enabled the police to change its evidence.

London: Investigation on undercover policing is ongoing Iakov Kalinin

An official investigation on under cover policing, chaired by Lord Justice Pitchford, has received written submissions which allege that a former police detective was paid £21,000 for this kind of information. One conviction is now being reviewed as a potential miscarriage of justice case as a result.
