US legal contracting platform Ironclad has hired Jasmine Singh as general counsel, replacing Chris Young, who stood down as GC earlier in the year.

Singh joins from child welfare tech business Binti, where most recently she was chief legal and people officer. At Ironclad she will be responsible for all legal matters.

Ironclad provides AI-powered contract lifecycle management (CLM) software and e-signature tools to help legal teams manage their contracts and legal document creation.

Jeremy Smith, Ironclad’s president, said: “As we continue to expand our AI capabilities for the contract and the teams that rely on it, we’re thrilled to welcome Jasmine to our team. Having lawyers who understand exactly why we build our platform and who we’re building it for is a huge benefit to our organisation – and we’re confident that Jasmine will be instrumental in helping us power the world’s contracts.”

Singh spent just over two years at Binti, the majority of them as GC before she was promoted to CLO back in August. Prior to that she was briefly deputy GC at Patreon and also spent close to four years as assistant GC for commercial at Pinterest and two years as corporate counsel at 24 Hour Fitness.

Before moving in-house, Singh was an associate at firms including Kerr & Wagstaffe, Arnold & Porter and Kirkland & Ellis, all in San Francisco.

She said: “As a legal leader, your primary goals are to help the business make strategic decisions and help your team drive impact. As the Ironclad GC, I get to live my mantra of being a lawyer’s lawyer; I get to advocate for legal’s essential role in and value to any business.

“I have implemented four CLMs in my career, two of which have been Ironclad, and I’ve never been more confident in Ironclad’s mission, strategy and ability to support legal teams in demonstrating how much impact they have across their enterprises. Paired with a world-class team, the Ironclad product and AI innovations we deliver are truly cutting edge and will make lawyers’ lives a lot easier.”

Young, meantime, stepped down as GC back in June after six years with the company, remaining on as a part-time advisor during the search for his replacement. Prior to that he was GC at GoFundMe and also spent four years as a trial lawyer at Keker Van Nest & Peters.
