US law firm mergers decline in 2014

Whilst 2013 was the highest year on record for law firm mergers, last year saw a fall in the number joining forces.

The US saw less law firm mergers and acquisitions last year, according to legal consultancy Altman Weil. Mergers declined from 88 in 2013 to 82 in 2014, with most of the deals small in size. Of the total number of deals, 87 percent involved the purchase of firms with 20 or fewer lawyers, Altman Weil said. Source: IBJ.com
