While the other Oxford rowers celebrated at the end of the race, the 6 foot 4 inch Ms Davies was so tired that she was barely able to lift her head. Before arriving at Oxford to study for an MBA, she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar - an honour given for academic achievement - at the Law School at Columbia. Celebrating her 34th birthday today, she has competed in three Olympic Games for the US, bringing home two gold medals, and was the most experienced rower - amongst both men and women - competing on the Thames in London in the annual race on Saturday.
Financial regulation
Her studies at Columbia involved a stint clerking in Honolulu for Judge Richard Clifton, a member of the Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. She made her way to Oxford through the Columbia-Oxford Alliance in Law and Finance through which she studied European corporate law, the economics of corporate transactions, and financial regulation.
