RollOnFriday reports that the tie-up will create a firm with around 200 partners that may also enter the top 20 UK firms by turnover.
The two firms are both well known for their private client work, while reports suggest that Speechlys’ corporate and real estate practices will fit well with Withers’ international network.
Speechlys’ profits per equity partner stands at £383,000, almost matching Withers’ at £384,000.
Both firms declined to comment further until after the announcement.
