Corporate partner Michael Ulmer has left the Magic Circle firm’s Frankfurt office to take up a position at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton. Mr Ulmer is leaving the firm after more than ten years, having joined in 2006 from German outfit Gleiss Lutz. His departure comes hot on the heels of news that A&O German capital markets head and fellow Frankfurt office partner Oliver Seiler has also left the firm to join Latham & Watkins. At Cleary, Mr Ulmer will focus on domestic and international private and public M&A work, joint ventures and corporate advice, with an existing client portfolio that includes German corporates, Mittelstand companies and domestic and international financial and strategic advisors. The hire is a rare senior recruit for Cleary’s German office, which currently boasts around 60 lawyers.
