Australian start-up lawyers open in London and New York
General Standards, a Melbourne-based law firm that started last year specialising in start-ups, is opening up in London and New York.

The expansion is aimed at supporting its Australian clients setting up abroad. The firm has advised more than 200 start-ups and says it is helping launch 30 companies a month in Australia. It was launched by Kurt Falkenstein and has recruited a former Corrs Chambers Westgarth senior associate, James McQueen, to be its CEO.
International trend
The London office will be run by Campbell Unsworth, a former senior assistant in London at Minter Ellison, after it opens later this month. The New York office opened in July under Spencer Wolf, described as ‘a graduate of Harvard, Columbia and Yale universities’ by StartupSmart.com. The firm’s development is part of a new international trend in which relatively junior lawyers open firms, focusing on niches and offering interesting pricing options. Source: StartupSmart
