John is the Founder and Managing Partner of Primerio, bringing over 25 years of experience in regulatory, commercial litigation, and antitrust fields across South Africa and the broader African region. His practice is characterised by high-stakes, complex litigation, international arbitration, and white-collar crime defence. His professional leadership is recognised globally. He serves as the sole African advisor to Business at OECD concerning the OECD Competition Committee and is a Vice Chair of the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Law Section Comments Committee. As the sole South African representative of FraudNet, the International Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC) anti-crime arm, he is at the forefront of cross-border commercial crime and asset recovery. John also contributes to the ICC’s Competition Committee and co-leads its Merger Control Task Force on Small Economies. He is the African Regional Representative on the IBA’s Anti-Corruption Committee and an advisor to the board of the ISLE Research Institute. A frequent author and speaker, he is a faculty member of the ABA Antitrust Section and co-editor of the “Africa column” for Competition Law Insights.
