Natascha Tunkel

Natascha Tunkel has over 15 years of experience in the field of complex dispute resolution. She is admitted to the Bar in Austria, and successfully practises as counsel, arbitrator and mediator in international commercial disputes. Natascha is qualified as an Austrian certified mediator and is an International Mediation Institute (IMI) certified mediation counsel. Her experience is internationally recognised, and she currently serves as a member of the Vienna International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) Mediation Advisory Board, as officer of the International Bar Association (IBA) Mediation Committee, and as Austrian delegate to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Task Force on ADR and Arbitration. She is a lecturer on mediation at the Faculty of Law of the University of Vienna. Her practice covers a wide array of industries, including construction, distribution, energy, engineering, gaming, hospitality, and life sciences. Her focus is on commercial disputes, including post mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and shareholder disputes. Peers have described her as “very proactive and prudent” and commended for “her deep knowledge of her cases”. As a mediator or co-mediator, Natascha offers a bespoke process that is tailored to the specific dispute at hand and is sensitive to cross-cultural aspects that may arise in international business dealings. Her approach is facilitative and — upon request of the parties — evaluative. Aware that mediation is driven by effective communication, Natascha conducts mediations primarily in English and German, in which she is fluent. Natascha’s experience as lawyer ensures that she has a clear understanding of the underlying legal issues. Her focus is to assist the parties in brokering a realistic and robust commercial solution in an efficient and fair process.
