Richardt (Rick) van Rensburg is an Executive in the Competition and Antitrust practice area with nearly two decades of experience advising on some of the most high-profile and complex competition law matters across Africa.  He has extensive expertise in prohibited practices, including cartel conduct, damages claims, corporate leniency applications, restrictive vertical practices, and abuse of dominance. Richardt also advises on merger regulation, contested mergers, hostile takeover bids, and negotiated conditional approvals, and is at the forefront of developments in South African competition law, including the Competition Amendment Act.  Richardt is a trusted advisor on local and international private equity acquisitions and disposals, managing the African component of large multijurisdictional mergers for private equity and venture capital firms. He has advised on most operational African antitrust regimes, including Botswana, COMESA, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.  A contributing editor of Butterworths Competition Law Reports, Richardt has published in respected law journals and spoken at leading antitrust conferences. He also lectures competition law at Nelson Mandela University.
