Tony DongWook Kang

Tony DongWook Kang is a Korea-licensed partner heading the International Arbitration and Litigation Practice Group at BKL. Tony has particular expertise in pre/post M&A litigations, commercial and financial litigations, criminal litigations, and corporate control disputes. Before joining BKL in 2006, he served as a judge for 12 years in the Korean judiciary in various posts starting from the Seoul Criminal District Court and the Seoul Civil District Court to the Seoul High Court of Appeals. Since he started working with BKL, he has successfully represented clients from many different countries as well as those from Korea for resolving their dispute cases. Tony received his LL.B. from Seoul National University (1991; magna cum laude) and his LL.M. from Harvard Law School (2002). He is fluent in English and frequently serves as an arbitrator for domestic and international arbitrations. He has been named as leading lawyer for Chambers and Partners Asia-Pacific: South Korea - Dispute Resolution: litigation for seven years in a row since the 2016 edition, and has been named one of Asia’s Top 15 Litigators by Asian Legal Business for two years in a row since 2021.
