The survey by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority found that 90 per cent of respondents were 'fully aware' of Alternative Business Structures (ABSs) and hundreds of private companies and public entities are considering establishing them. Some five to10 per cent of the 2,013 solicitors who were surveyed are considering ABSs. The researchers say: 'Applying this proportion to the total number of firms known to employ in-house solicitors would suggest that somewhere between 300 and 700 firms are potentially considering applying to become an ABS.
