Professor Randall Thomas said that the presence of a top firm is 'significantly and positively associated with a higher probability of lawsuit success.' The researchers analysed 1739 class actions that challenged the fairness of mergers and acquisitions transactions over a nine year period up to 2012. The research, Zealous Advocates or Self-interested Actors? Assessing the Value of Plaintiffs' Law Firms in Merger Litigation, found that an active litigation strategy helped top law firms in their success.
