National Public Radio has named Jonathan Hart as its new Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel. Mr Hart currently serves as a partner in Cooley LLP's Technology Transactions group, and will begin his job at NPR on 1 July. Mr Hart has served as outside General Counsel for New Century Network, Cox Interactive Media, Worth magazine and AutoTrader.com. He has also worked for nonprofit organizations such as Center for Public Integrity, the Online News Association, Public Media Platform, Inc. and the Online Publishers Association. Mr Hart has served on the faculty of the Stanford Professional Publishing Courses from 1994 to 2008, and has taught in the Yale Publishing Course since 2010. He currently has a book, Internet Law: A Field Guide, which is in its sixth edition.

GE Healthcare has recruited Jason Hanson as its new vice president and general counsel. Mr Hanson, who had worked for the company earlier in his career, joins from Valeant Pharmaceuticals. He first joined UK headquartered GE Healthcare in 1999 as senior counsel for litigation and compliance.

Former Ofgem legal director Elizabeth Hillman has been named Ofwat's first general counsel following changes in management. Ms Hillman accepted the position last month and heads a team of 11 lawyers. She worked for seven years at energy regulator Ofgem as legal director. Ms Hillman went to Ofgem after working at EDF, where she headed the B2B and upstream legal team at EDF Energy. In December, Ms Hillman named three non-executive directors and promoted Sonia Brown to chief regulation officer, Richard Khaldi was named senior customer and casework director, Claire Forbes was named corporate communications director and Bev Messinger as operations director.

In-house lawyer  Rob Booth has been appointed as The Crown Estate's head of legal, replacing Alex Peeke. Mr Peeke is set to exit for Land Securities in July, where Mr Booth will take over. Mr Booth will head up the legal function of the Crown Estate's £6.8bn portfolio. Mr Booth has worked at the Crown Estate since 2012, joining from Herbert Smith. Mr Peeke will take over the day-to-day running of Land Securities' legal function, replacing legal chief Clive Ashcroft.
