David Pitofsky has been promoted to General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of News Corp, having served as Deputy General Counsel and Deputy Chief Compliance Officer since 2013. He succeeds Gerson Zweifach who was retained as the General Counsel of News Corp on a transitional basis following the separation of the two companies in June 2013. Mr Zweifach remains Group General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of 21st Century Fox. Mr Zweifach Mr Pitofsky joined News Corp from the law firm of Goodwin Procter LLP, where he was a partner. From 1996 to 2005, he was an Assistant US Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, rising to Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division.

JPMorgan Chase has recruited John Tribolati as its new EMEA general counsel (GC). Mr Tribolati hails from Goldman and has had a number of roles at the bank. He co-headed the derviatives legal team as well as acting as EMEA deputy GC, co-leading the EMEA securities division legal team, and having oversight of the EMEA investment management division, investment banking division, and principal and loan finance legal practice areas. Mr Tribolati succeeds Piers Le Marchant, who joined the bank in April from Japanese bank Nomura. Mr Le Marchant has now been appointed as global head of compliance for corporate and investment banking. Mr Tribolati was previously at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.

IBM has replaced its retiring general counsel Robert Weber. Michelle Browdy, who is a vice president and assistant general counsel steps up to head the company's legal department. Ms Browdy was secretary to the board since 2012 and also served as worldwide head of litigation. She was previously at law firm Kirkland & Ellis. Mr Weber will retire this year. 

North American power generator contracter Blattner Energy has promoted Ron Rasley to head of its legal department. He replaces David Blattner who was previously general counsel and who is due to retire. Mr Rasley has worked with the company for eight years but has 20 years of experience dealing with construction contracts. He will oversee and identify legal issues in all departments as well as being responsible for corporate governance. Mr Blattner has been given the task of developing future leaders within the ecompany. 

Robert Grohowski has been appointed as the new general counsel of The Investment Adviser Association. He will replace long term general counsel Karen Barr, who has been promoted to IAA president and CEO. He joins the organisation in March where he will have responsibility for the wide range of legal and regulatory matters affecting IAA and its members. Prior to this, Grohowski was in private practice  with Kilpatrick & Cody (now Kilpatrick Townsend) in Atlanta and Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan in Washington, DC.
