Legaltech giant Harvey is partnering with a trio of Italian legal publishers, expanding its content coverage with Italian legal information.

The three publishing houses – Il Foro Italiano, which was founded in 1876; Simone; and digital publisher Juranet – supply specialist legal content that Harvey will integrate into its AI tools, enabling users to research Italian law.

The content includes Gazzetta Ufficiale, the official source of the Italian government’s record of laws going as far back as 1946, as well as case law from the Court of Cassation, Italy’s highest court, covering criminal and civil divisions alongside information from lower courts dating back to 1980.

It also includes all archived records from Il Foro Italiano stretching back to 1981, along with official guidance and rulings from tax authorities, government departments and regulatory bodies.

Nate Schlein, head of product business development at Harvey, said: “We’re investing deeply in Italy. We’re seeing strong demand from both law firms and large enterprise organisations, and we’ve hired a team of experienced legal engineers to work alongside them.

“Now, we’re giving Italian lawyers even greater access to local law, alongside hundreds of legal sources from around the world.”

The partnerships extend Harvey’s presence in Italy, having announced back in June that it was hiring a dedicated team in Milan to support local law firms and corporate legal departments using its AI platform.

The company also announced that one of Italy’s largest firms – BonelliErede – was adopting Harvey across its offices after a three-year-long evaluation process.

Last week, Harvey acquired AI-powered sales assistant platform Aida, marking its fifth purchase this year. Aida is a virtual assistant for salespeople and complements Harvey’s tech by recording meeting details, updating customer relationship management systems and retaining client information.

Other recent acquisitions by the company include September’s purchase of San Francisco-based AI security platform Guardrails AI, accelerating its work on agent reliability.

This followed its acquisition of New York-based investment firm-focused AI platform Benchmark in July to advance the growth of Harvey’s asset management business.

Also last week, the company said it was partnering with Latham & Watkins to build AI tools for investment fund formation, integrating the firm’s investment fund practice with Harvey’s product and engineering team.
