Ex-Pfizer general counsel Amy Schulman has joined private equity company Polaris Partners. Ms Shulman is a venture partner in the company and will take over the role of CEO of Arsia Therapeutics as well as other board positions. At Pfizer she helped head up the nutrition business as well as consumer brands such as Advil and ChapStick. As general counsel, she oversaw around 700 legal professionals. 

LinkedIn has hired former Yahoo general counsel Michael Callahan to lead its legal team. Mr Callaghan, who joined Auction.com just over 18 months ago, was previously at Yahoo where he served as executive vice president, general counsel and company secretary. He will replace Erika Rottenberg who is retiring, having been the first general counsel at the company.

The former  deputy general counsel at Citigroup, Elizabeth Sacksteder, has joined Paul, Weiss Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP as a partner in the litigation department. Sacksteder will be based in New York and focus on complex litigation and regulatory matters, the firm said in a statement.

BBC Worldwide (ANZ) has appointed Emren Kara as its head of legal. Mr Kara, who was previously the general counsel and company secretary of Mi9, the digital arm of Nine Entertainment, starts his new role heading up the broadcaster’s legal team in Australia and New Zealand on 4 August.He has previously worked in private practice for firms such as TressCox Lawyers, Atanaskovic Hartnell and Minter Ellison.He will report to Fiona Lang, his predecessor, who was promoted to chief operating officer of BBC Worldwide in May.

David Everleigh has left BT Global to join FTSE outsourcing company Serco as the newly created head of legal. The job was created after the company overcharged the Ministry of Justice and G4S, forcing the company to recruit a general counsel as part of its 'corporate renewal programme.' Mr Eveleigh will be replaced at BT by Liz Walker, the current vice-president in the CEO Office at BT Global.
